Working with Petroleum Company
Hey guys, currently I’m working with Petroleum company in Malaysia, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd Sabah Operations in their technology field which is under iPerintis Sdn Bhd control, my job there is to maintain the server stability, security measure and networking. Also telecommunications and websites too.
To me this job is not really that easy, daily report is to summary all server status and latest update to the server to KL HQ directly every morning. The other things is to inventory the server specification into Excel (If there’s 100 server then you have to insert 100 data also…) and if the server down we have put everything in priority ONE as we serve our service over 500+ staff in working day, that’s MUST. That’s tiring a lot because using hands… @.@
My experience was there, the server suddenly down even the server is power-up during peak working day, I don’t know why, when we monitored the security logs we found that backdoor have infected our file server over network on Novell fileserver. The effect, our virtual memory damaged completely and we called HP technical to replace the virtual memory that cost at RM300+ each, luckily that the server under warranty terms and only one virtual memory damaged, so no cost to be paid.
Other things also I required to maintain Petronas website for PCSB-SBO sites. Hopeful you guys working with Petroleum company like me, as you can get the better benefits and extra income for overtime working, but not to Executive (For Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd staff).
In iPerintis Sdn Bhd there’s no executive only technician all range, paid over RM5K a month salary not including extra time and your EPF also benefits from it.
